Springfield International Airport is the primary airport serving Springfield. The airport is the main hub of Air Springfield.

Scheduled flights are operated by Air Springfield, and many other airlines around the USA and around the world.United Airlines and American Airlines stopped their service from Springfield to various destinations around the US and around the world due for the unknown state.

There is also a private bar for pilots only called The Little Black Box. The airport is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Incidents

  • In the episode Fear of Flying, Homer Simpson went to the The Little Black Box, the last bar in Springfield at the airport after being kicked out of Moe's Tavern. Then he was sent to take charge of a flight (although he didn't know how to fly a plane). When he got into the Air Springfield Boeing 707 (or Douglas DC-10), he acidently raised the landing gear while parked. There were a few minor injuries.
  • There was also another incident in Fear of Flying. An Air Springfield Boeing 707 (or a McDonnell Douglas) DC-10 over-ran the runway and ended up in the water. There were no fatalities.
  • Springfield major Joe Quimby attempted to hijack a Boeing 747.
