Springfield International Airport

Wikisimpsons - The Simpsons Wiki
Revision as of 00:31, July 24, 2007 by Basel17 (talk)

Springfield International Airport is the primary airport serving Springfield. The airport is the main hub of Air Springfield.

Scheduled flights are operated by Air Springfield, which is currently the only airline serving the airport. United Airlines and American Airlines stopped their service from Springfield to various destinations around the US and around the world due for the unknown state. Air New Zealand used to offer flights to Auckland to attract The Simpson Family to come to New Zealand, but they never came and Air NZ disccontinued that service. Air France stopped it's service to Paris due for poor loads. The last airline to pull out was Air India.

The airport does have seasonal chater flights operated by World Airlines to Boston, New York, Washington DC and Miami. There is also a private bar for pilots only. The airport is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Incidents

In the episode Fear of Flying, Homer Simpson went to the private pub at the airport after being kicked out of Moe's Tavern. Then he was sent to take charge of a flight (although he didn't know how to fly a plane). When he got into the Air Springfield DC-10, he acidently raised the landing gear while parked. There were a few minor injuries.

There was also another incident in Fear of Flying. An Air Springfield DC-10 over-ran the runway and ended up in the water. There were no fatalities.
