• The episode title is a reference to the Bravo reality TV series The Real Housewives of..., which is itself a play on the ABC comedy/drama/mystery series Desperate Housewives.

Goofs

• Marge's head animation is slightly wider in some scenes of this episode.
• When Bart catches the scent of truffles and runs up the stairs to the first floor, the scent leads him into the door of Homer and Marge's bedroom, however once inside the room, it is Lisa's. And, inside Lisa's room, a corridoor leading to the other rooms can be seen opposite the room.
• The door which leads to the Simpsons' basement is rectangular shaped rather than its usual circular shape.
• Cletus' shack is strangely next to Springfield Elementary School.
