Cultural references
- The show Homer watches, UpscAlien in da House is a parody of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and ALF, which aired in 1990-1996 and 1986-1990 respectively.
- The TV show I Lost Lucy is a parody of I Love Lucy, which ran from 1951 to 1957.
- The scene where Homer stands in front of a line of taxis and blocks them from leaving is a reference to the Tank Man, who blocked a column of tanks during the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.
Trivia
- James Lipton makes his second guest appearance.
- After watching the TV show Homer raves about the various producers and especially praises the "Consulting Producer" and during the opening credits (in the hammock scene) it is shown that Dan Castellaneta (who voices Homer) is the Consulting Producer for the show.
