Paul Newman (January 26, 1925 – September 26, 2008) was an actor and humanitarian. His most well-known credit was in the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. He was also known as the founder of Newman's Own, which produced such products as salad dressings and popcorn. He made a guest appearance on The Simpsons episode The Blunder Years as himself. In his appearance, Homer tries to fantasize about someone on food labels since Marge is fantasizing about the model on the Burly towels, so he looks at Newman on a bottle of Newman's Own salad dressing, but Newman says, "Homer, I'm going to tell you something I told Redford," referring to his Butch Cassidy co-star Robert Redford, "'It ain't gonna happen.'"

Nine days after he passed away, the episode Lost Verizon was dedicated in Newman's memory.
