Dillinger: Referance?

Homer: ...it's Marge! She's become a crazed criminal just because I didn't take her to the ballet.
Wiggum: That's exactly how Dillinger got started.
Homer: Really?

I know this is a referance to something, but the only Dillinger I know is Ed Dillinger from the film Tron. There's no character in the series with this name/surname. Does anyone know any criminals with a similar story?

Also, Ed Dillinger is a criminal, since he took all credit from Kevin Flynn and was thrown in jail at the end. But if it's this villain, this would cause a plothole for Treehouse of Horror VI, since Wiggum deniced seeing this film (three times), while Homer saw it at least once. Google gives me John Dillinger, an American gangster and bank robber.--Cook879 13:16, 3 October 2011 (EDT)
Yeah, it must be him. I never heard of him, and the only Dillinger I can think of is Ed Dillinger. UxieLover1994 13:30, 3 October 2011 (EDT)
