TV Show Information
|
Kids Say the Darnedest Things is a comedy/talk show hosted by Bill Cosby. When Homer had a daycare center in his home, he and the kids watched the show on TV.
Format
On the show, Cosby interviews young children, hoping to elicit "cute" answers. Sometimes he uses the kids' answers as a springboard for impromptu stand-up comedy. For example, in the scene that was shown, Cosby asked a little boy what game he liked to play. The boy eagerly answered "Pokémon!" which prompted Cosby to go into a string of wordplays on "Pokémon". Both the studio audience and Homer (and the daycare kids watching TV with him) found the sequence to be very funny.
Behind the Laughter
- Bill Cosby hosted Kids Say the Darndest Things (spelled without an "e" immediately following "Darn") in real life. The show aired on CBS from January 1998 to June 2000, and its format was similar to that of its Simpsons counterpart.
- The show stemmed from a segment called "Kids Say the Darndest Things" on Art Linkletter's radio and TV show House Party. The radio show aired from 1945 to 1967; the TV show, from 1952 to 1969.
