Cultural references
- Homer refers to hanging wallpaper as the "Sport of Kings"; however, in real life "Sport of Kings" is a nickname for horse racing.
- When Bart reminds Homer that Marge gave him money to hire a professional to hang the wallpaper, Homer pooh-poohs the idea, sarcastically citing the following as "what professionals have gotten us":
- The Titanic
- The atom bomb
- Sugar substitutes
- The drifter whom Homer finally hires to hang the wallpaper resembles Shaggy from the Scooby-Doo franchise.
Trivia
- The Chinese swears that Homer reads are "去你" (damn you) and "該死" (damn it), while Bart says "Holy 狗屎" (Holy crap).
- The following Krusty-Brand products are seen during the story:
- Wallpaper (the pattern features Krusty's face)
- Wallpaper Glue (the bucket has a picture of Krusty on it, along with a graphic reading "Now with 15% fewer toxic fumes!")
