Homer was also feeling sad and unknown at the plant so he joined nasa with barney the second barney celebrate he got drunk and homer was chosen. NASA then launched homer in space upon homer's reentry the hatch door open and then homer fixed with the thing that made him sad a lifeless rod. homer was then uncredited for saving the astronauts it's because the rod kept the door together
