Song Information
|
Stand By Your Manager is a song sung by Lurleen Lumpkin (voiced by Beverly D'Angelo) in the episode "Colonel Homer".
Background
While Homer was managing her musical career, Lurleen became attracted to him and made a couple of attempts to seduce him. After the second attempt, which occurred during Lurleen's appearance on the variety TV show Ya Hoo!, Homer realized that if he stayed on as her manager, he would lose his family. He then sold her contract to another agent, hurried home, and got into bed with Marge just in time to see Lurleen sing the song on TV.
Lyrics
- Lurleen: [speaking]
- Now I'd like to play a song I wrote just this minute. It's called "Stand By Your Manager". His name is Homer.
- [singing]
- He's quite a man.
- I tried to kiss him,
- But Homer ran.
- Sure wish I could say
- That I was his.
- I hope that Marge knows
- Just how lucky she is.
- Marge:
- I do.
Behind the Laughter
