Comic Story information
|
Dullards to Donuts is a Simpsons Comics story featured in Simpsons Comics #38.
Plot
Smithers has noticed that the cost of donuts for the Nuclear Power Plant employees has increased dramatically. Mr. Burns reveals to him that the company scientist, Dr. Olberman, is developing a new, highly addictive type of donut which is being provided to the employees.
Burns announces to the workers that he is no longer providing them with donuts. The workers despair over this loss, especially Homer and bingeing on Kwik-E-Mart donuts fails to satisfy them. Burns offers to keep supplying his own donuts in exchange for a pay cut which the employees cheerfully agree to. As Homer is unable to control his donut eating habits, Marge and other townspeople demand a town Health Commission to determine the safety of the power plant donuts. With the help of Fat Tony, Burns hooks most of Springfield on the donuts and they become immensely popular.
After a short while, the power plant employees become obese and unable to work productively so Burns reduces the addictiveness and level of fat in the donuts.
