Futility Belt is a Bart Simpson story first printed in Bart Simpson #2.
Plot
Bart gets a utility belt for his Bartman alter ego to help him fight off enemies. Meanwhile, the CEO of a toy company rejects Professor Frink's jet-powered skateboard invention due to the danger it poses. Frink throws it into the outside garbage and Bart picks it up, intending to use it as the "Bart-Mobile". Bartman flies on the skateboard but it runs out of fuel mid-air, causing him to crash in front of Chief Wiggum. Wiggum tries to chase Bart, who escapes using a smoke capsule from his utility belt. Kent Brockman starts chasing Bartman, who hides in a comic convention. A man working at the convention mistakes Bart for a costume contestant and drags him to a stage in front of judges. The winner of the contest is Lisa who is dressed as "Bartgirl". Bart comes 19th, winning a Tacomat voucher. Lisa suggests that Bart ditch the utility belt as it makes him look dorky.
