Mayor Quimby opted to rename the highway the "Matlock Expressway", after the TV series Matlock, in order to win Springfield's edlerly vote, as Matlock is their favorite show. Sideshow Bob also said he would build the freeway to secure the elderly's votes. The freeway was later shown in construction, with 742 Evergreen Terrace blocking its path. Before it could be completed, Bob is imprisoned for rigging the election.[1]
