  • The title refers to the fact that David Hyde Pierce, who voices Cecil, plays the brother of Kelsey Grammer's character, Fraisier Crane, on the long-running sitcom Frasier.
  • Krusty's prison concert is a reference to Johnny Cash's famous At Folsom Prison concert and album.
  • Sideshow Bob is voiced by Kelsey Grammer, who played Frasier Crane in the TV sitcom Frasier. His brother, Cecil Terwilliger, is voiced by David Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier's brother Niles in the show, hence the episode's title.
  • When Bart covers Cecil's eyes and asks "Guess who?", Cecil guesses "Maris". Maris was Nile's wife in Frasier, an unseen character.
  • At one point in the episode (just before Bob and Cecil discuss wine at his apartment), one of the title cards from Frasier is shown.
  • The title is a reference to the film Brother from Another Planet.
