After graduating from training at the [[Springfield Naval Reserve Base]], [[Homer]] was assigned to the U.S.S. Jebediah for war games, under [[Captain Tenille]]. On board the submarine, Tenille quickly bonded with Homer and put him on charge whilst he went and investigated a blockage in torpedo tube one. Whilst Tenille was investigating, an enemy submarine attacked and Homer ordered the torpedoes be fired, which fired out Captain Tenille, killing him, leaving Homer in command.
