Carmen is an opera that was directed by a Boris Csupovski.

History[edit]

When Bart cheated on his IQ test, the family went to the opera to watch Carmen. Martin Prince's family were also watching the opera, and didn't like it when the Simpsons started ruining the performance.

When the show started Bart asked Lisa to keep her eye out for the guy with the peanuts. Marge replied, saying that there are no peanuts, which made Homer angry. Bart then started singing alternative lyrics to the music which Homer enjoyed. After a while Homer and Bart started pretending to snore, which also entertained them. Homer asked who the fat guy on stage is, and Lisa explained that it is the bullfighter, to which Bart comments "no bull can miss him", causes Homer and Bart to laugh and start making fart sound which even gets Lisa laughing. After a while Homer wondered when it would end. Bart replied that it's not over till the fat lady sings. Homer then points to a woman on stage and says is that one fat enough for you, once again causing Homer, Bart and Lisa to laugh. After the show the family went to eat a burger.

Behind the Laughter[edit]

Carmen is a real opera.

Part of the Toreador Song, which Bart parodies in Bart the Genius, was briefly sung by Martin in "Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baadasssss Song" while suspended in a cage. The prelude to Act 1, which shares part of its melody with the Toreador Song, was played earlier in "Bart the Genius", and is played in the couch gag for "You Don't Have to Live Like a Referee".
