Plot[edit]
As the song "Stuck in the Middle With You" by Stealers Wheel plays in the background, Itchy splashes gasoline over Scratchy, who is tied to a chair. Itchy draws a straight razor and the camera pans away from Scratchy's chair. While Scratchy is out of the frame, Itchy cuts his ear off with the razor.
Quentin Tarantino then steps into the scene and starts explaining the point he is trying to make with the cartoon: "What I'm trying to say in this cartoon is that violence is everywhere in our society, you know, it's like, even in breakfast cereals, man." While Tarantino talks, Itchy becomes impatient, then jumps at Tarantino and cuts his head off with the razor. Scratchy frees himself from the chair, and he and Itchy exchange high-fives and dance around Tarantino's decapitated body.
References[edit]
- The cartoon is a pastiche of Quentin Tarantino's works:
- Itchy's pouring gasoline over Scratchy and cutting his ear off is very similar to a scene from Reservoir Dogs. "Stuck in the Middle with You" by Stealers Wheel plays during the episode, as it does in the movie.
- When Itchy and Scratchy dance around Tarantino's body, it is similar to a dance scene from Pulp Fiction. The song that plays during the dance is "Misirlou" by Dick Dale, the theme song for Pulp Fiction.
Trivia[edit]
- The episode was used in a tech demo for the unreleased game The Simpsons: Bug Squad!, where it can be seen playing on the TV in the Simpsons' living room.
