The Sound of Music is a cinematic adaptation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical of the same name. Both are based on the real life Van Trapp family singers from Salzburg, Austria.

When Lily sang Lili Marleen in German at Moe's, Carl notes. "This is like that beautiful scene in Sound of Music when all the Nazis sang good night."[2]
