Bart and Tom watch an episode where Ren received a meal from Stimpy, who thought it was delicious meatball soup. Stimpy then reveals that it is a collection of his fur balls in stomach acid. A shocked Ren gets angry and accuses Stimpy of trying to kill him, after which Ren's eyes come out of his sockets and explode, much to Bart and Tom's amusement.
To make this parody work The Simpsons staff actually made real animators from Ren and Stimpy animate the segment

The Ren & Stimpy Show is one of several animated shorts nominated for an award, competing against The Itchy & Scratchy Show. The viewing at the awards ceremony simply read "Clip not done yet", a comment on the slow production time of the show, and was also a counter-attack against John Kricfalusi who had made derogatory remarks regarding The Simpsons writers..

While referencing The Itchy & Scratchy Show's habit of recycling animation to make new episodes, Lisa said that Ren & Stimpy also did that. Marge then replied "When was the last time you heard anyone talk about Ren & Stimpy?".
