Cultural references
- The story's title is a pun on the 1970 romantic drama film Love Story.
- Itchy is plotting to kill his wife so he can date Uma Thurman.
- Matt Groening's credit, "Lifting Us Up Where We Belong", is a reference to the song "Up Where We Belong", which was recorded for the 1982 drama film An Officer and a Gentleman.
