The episode starts with the [[Simpson family]] fighting at the breakfast table. [[Lisa Simpson|Lisa]] and [[Bart Simpson|Bart]] are fighting over a doughnut, [[Homer Simpson|Homer]] is reading the newspaper. After the children leave for [[Springfield Elementary School|school]], Homer leaves to the [[Springfield Nuclear Power Plant|power plant]] without even noticing [[Marge]]. Our heroine is left with an asleep [[Margaret Simpson|Maggie]] and [[Arnie Pie]] on the radio, yelling at [[Kent Brockman]]. Suddenly, a commercial comes on the radio, urging Marge to call [[Dr. Marvin Monroe]]'s on-the-air therapy. She does so, and tells him she's tired of Homer of not treating her like the ''"hot love object you are."'' (quoted by Dr. Monroe).  
  
In the Christmas special, the [[Simpsons Family|Simpsons]] are preparing for Christmas, and Bart wants to get a tattoo. Bart's parents refuse, but Bar ignores them and gets a tattoo saying Moth (it was meant to say Mother, but was incomplete). Because of this, the Simpsons need to get expensive laser surgery to remove the tattoo, which uses all of Marge's Xmas money.

At work, Homer hears his wife talking about him on the phone, and instead of going home that night, goes to [[Moe's]] and asks [[Moe]] for advice. Moe tells Homer he should take her to a fancy restaurant, spend the night at a hotel, and buy her some flowers. He ends up buying her a box of chocolates and a single rose, as the flowers are very expenisve, and goes home and tells Marge he loves her. Marge's complection softens, and he decides to take her where Moe suggested. During this time, Bart has made various prank calls to Moe's Tavern.
 
 
Marge is depending on Homer's Christmas bonus, which Homer doesn't get. Homer, not knowing about the tattoo, depends on Marge's (now dry) supply of Xmas money.
 
 
 
Homer goes discount shopping for the family, and ilegally cuts down a tree, which has gunpowder in it. Meanwhile, Homer also works as a store [[Santa]], earning just $13 dollars. Homer loses it all on the dog track, betting on a hopeless dog called [[Santa's Little Helper]]. Bart and Homer manage to save christmas by adopting the first Simpson dog.
 
 
 
The episode ends with an unusual version of ''Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer''.

Plot
