Cultural references

  • America's Most Wanted - America's Most Armed and Dangerous is a parody of the show.
  • The Smurfs and The Care Bears - The Happy Little Elves is most likely a parody of the two shows.
  • When Homer says "No, I said Samson, not Simpson.". This is a parody of a poem which ends in My name is Simpson, not Samson..
  • The title could be a reference to the song of the same name.

Trivia

File:Basement room.jpg
The basement is replaced with a room?
  • Dr. Monroe says to Marge "I'm as sure as my voice is annoying.". This is a joke on the fact Harry Shearer, the voice for Dr. Monroe, found the character annoying to voice.
  • This episode was the first to be produced, yet last to air in the first season.
  • A lipstick stain is seen on the inside of the front door when Homer and Marge leave for their night out. This is from the original version of the show where Marge tries to kiss Homer as he leaves for work, but he slams the door in her face, making her smooch the door instead of drinking her coffee.
  • Marge's bowling ball from the episode "Life on the Fast Lane" can be seen.
  • After Homer shaves, his five o'clock shadow returns about six or seven seconds later.
  • For some strange reason, the basement is found underneath the stairs leading to the first floor of the house in this episode, as Bart tries to make an escape from Botz by opening a door underneath the stairs and running down the steps. Also, the regular door leading to the basement in the corridor leading to the garage is instead replaced with a room.

Goofs

File:SEE Lamp goof.jpg
Where's the lamp pole?
  • When Bart and Lisa are cluched onto the side of the couch, there is a lamp shade next to them, flying in the air. This goof was probably caused by the TV antennae being so close to the bottom of the lamp shade. However, it seems to be a recurring error in the scene, as after a pan to the TV, the error is still persistant when it pans to Bart and Lisa on the couch

Continuity error

  • Santa's Little Helper does not appear in the episode, as his first appearance is in "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" as the episode had been postponed due to production difficulties.
  • Arnie Pie is heard on the radio and called "Bill Pie".
