- The show Homer watches, UpscAlien in da House is a parody of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and ALF, which aired in 1990-1996 and 1986-1990 respectively.
- The TV show I Lost Lucy is a parody of I Love Lucy, which ran from 1951 to 1957.
- The scene where Homer stands in front of a line of taxis and blocks them from leaving is a reference to the Tank Man, who blocked a column of tanks during the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.
Trivia
