Marge was reading the book when telling the family about their holiday to Costa Rica. She then let Maggie chew on the book.

The book is a reference to the travel guide book publisher Lonely Planet and the comedy trio The Lonely Island. The two male figures holding the arms up with a globe stuck on the groin is specifically referencing The Lonely Island's song Dick in a Box.
