Plot[edit]

After Bart washes the car, Homer pays him for his work. However, Marge then points out that Bart only washed one side of the car and tells Homer that he should read the parenting skills book, Taming Your Wild Child, she gave him for Christmas. Homer starts the book and gets to chapter 1: Placing trust in your child's hands. Homer sends Bart to the Kwik-E-Mart with $4 to buy a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk. When he gets there, Bart finds Apu throwing away two gallons of spoiled milk. Bart takes them off of Apu's hands and spends the rest of the money on the bread and candy. When Bart shows Homer that he got the bread and more milk than he asked for, which he claimed was due to a 2-for-1 sale, Homer gives Bart another $2 to buy candy.

Chapter 2 of the book is about using reverse psychology. Bart demands to go to the Jippum & Fleecum Circus, and threatens to join the circus if he's not allowed to visit. Homer agrees to let Bart join the circus and takes him to Dr. Nick to get fake ears and a nose put on Bart so he can join the circus as a freak. When Dewey Jippum finds out that Bart isn't over 18, he makes Homer sign a lifetime family membership contract for the circus so the family has to attend every circus performance.

Homer gets to chapter 3, which is about being an authority figure. When Bart won't let Lisa watch what she wants on television, Homer tells Bart that he has to let Lisa watch TV or he will be sent to his room. When Bart takes the TV to his room instead, Lisa complains but is cut off and Bart gets sent to his room. Homer then says that the book has paid for itself, whilst Bart says the same about his book, Taming Your Parents.
