Total Disaster Insurance is an insurance company with which the Simpsons have had fire and vehicle insurance policies.
History[edit]
When the Simpsons had a house fire, an agent from Total Disaster Insurance visited, evidently to process their insurance claim. The agent asked, "Any valuables in the house?" Homer then started naming things, bald-facedly lying as he said, "Well, the Picasso, my collection of classic cars ..." Very quickly, however, the agent had enough of Homer's lies and sharply cut him off: "Sorry, this policy only covers actual losses, not made-up stuff." Miffed at being caught out, Homer sarcastically said, "Well, that's just great!"[1]
Homer later totaled both of the family cars, rear-ending Marge's car in the driveway when he was driving home from Moe's in a snowstorm. The next morning, when the Total Disaster Insurance agent interviewed Homer before paying his claim, he asked what kind of business Moe's was. Homer realized that if he said he had been at a bar, he would jeopardize his claim, but he couldn't think of anything else that would be open at night. After a moment's thought, he told the agent that Moe's was a pornography store and he had been buying pornography, then chuckled to himself at his own cleverness.[2]
