The Annual Springfield to Shelbyville Birditarod is a fake race made up by Moe for Raymond Bird to take part in.
History[edit]
Moe suggested the race to Homer and was going to do it until Santa's Little Helper ate Raymond Bird. Moe then revealed that it was a hoax and a scheme to steal Homer's house, and that there was no such thing as a Birditarod.

According to Moe's poster, 100 birds would have entered, 1 bird would have won, and 3 birds would have been sucked into a plane.
Behind the Laughter[edit]
The name of the race is a pun on the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, which is held annually in Alaska.
