Trivia

• The plot was later replicated in the "Zoo or False?" episode of Disney Channel show The Replacements. Todd, played by Nancy Cartwright (voice of Bart), was being cruel to the Monkeys just like Homer was only with bananas instead of a peanut. When the monkeys escaped, along with all the other animals, they went to get revenge, and Todd said "OK, listen. I said some things, you said some things. I flung some insults, you flung some poo, but we're OK, right?".
• The gorillas in this short were called "monkeys," despite gorillas are actually apes, not monkeys.

Goofs

• Homer's pants turn brown as the family first look at the monkeys.
• When Lisa says "They don't like it, Dad", she closes her eyelid and the right part of her eyelid has not been colored in.

Continuity

• The Simpsons also interact with a family of gorillas in the comic story Maggie's Crib 24.
• Part of this short has similarities with the episode "Bart Has Two Mommies", where Bart is taken into an enclosure by an ape who tries to claim him as family.
