Welcome![edit]
Hello, and welcome to Wikisimpsons!
Thank you for taking an interest in our wiki. If you have any troubles, feel free to ask questions on any experienced editors' talk page. Also, you could look at a help page.
Here are a few pages to help out new editors such as most likely yourself:
- Help pages, your first stop if you need any help
- Editing help, in case you have questions on how to properly edit articles
- Policy pages — failure to abide by these will result in consequences.
Please sign your name on talk pages by using four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your name and the date. Signing your comments is important, as it lets other editors know who has posted which comments.
Again, welcome! Cook879 17:42, 19 July 2012 (EDT)
Warning[edit]
Welcome to Wikisimpsons. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions here, at least one of your recent edits did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the policy page to learn more about contributing constructively to this wiki.
Please note that further infractions may result in a block for a short duration, at an administrator's discretion. Thank you. And Please, when adding info on unaired episodes you must source it, and SNPP/Simpsonsarchive is not a reliable source. Thanks again, |
Airdates[edit]
Please, when adding airdates to future episodes you must give a reliable source too. And SNPP(Simpsonsarchive.com) or Wikipedia are NOT reliable sources. If Wikipedia has an airdate with a reliable source then would be acceptable if you added that airdate with the reliable source. But if you add more airdates without sourcing or from non-reliable sites again, I'll have to block you. / Loco87 ( / Contribs) 08:45, October 5, 2014 (EDT)
- Hey! I told you that Simpsonsarchive.com is NOT a Reliable Source! They are a fanon website, so no information there can be used here, except that info that has been officially released by the media. So remember, Simpsonsarchive.com is not a reliable source. The next time you add an airdate with a non-reliable source I'll have to block you. / Loco87 ( / Contribs) 10:12, October 7, 2014 (EDT)
- It's not a fanon site, fanon is pretty much fan-fiction. | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 16:18, October 8, 2014 (EDT)
Regarding Unreliable Sources[edit]
Hello Loco87,
I only just saw your disapproval of using Simpsons Archive as a source. I did not see it before today, 10/8/14. I do not appreciate being threatened with blocking for something I was doing that I didn't know was wrong until today. I don't really know the sources that are reliable and unreliable.
And one more thing: am I doing the reply correctly, or is there another way (if so, what is it?) to do it?
Coolio (talk) 15:58, October 8, 2014 (EDT) = Coolio
- You should reply in the same section, using colons to indent the reply. Use one more colon than the reply above the one you're adding. Reliable sources are producers and crew members on Twitter (Al Jean and Chris Ledesma often reveal air dates), Official Fox Press Releases, and a few other trusted websites, such as Inside TV. If you think you have a source for an airdate, but it's not one of these, stick it on the episode's talk page and someone else can see if it's reliable. The Solar Dragon 16:13, October 8, 2014 (EDT)
- Also, if you see a website that seems like a fanon website, it won't probably be a reliable source(unless they have their info sourced with a reliable source, because then you should treat the source on the website rather than the fanon website). By the way, when someone leaves a message on your talk page, you'll see a notice about it on the top of the page saying someone has left a message in your talk page(at least if you are using the default skin). / Loco87 ( / Contribs) 16:21, October 8, 2014 (EDT)
- Thanks Solar Dragon and Loco87, you two are lifesavers!
Userpage Infobox[edit]
Hi Coolio. If you prefer it, you can use the User Infobox Template instead of the Character Infobox on your userpage. It is not necessary, regardless. / Loco87 ( / Contribs) 17:56, October 9, 2014 (EDT)
Preview button[edit]
Hello, before saving a page, can you preview it first? It will lessen the need for multiple edits as you can see what it would like like after you save it. Just click the "Show preview" button next to the "Save page" button to do so. Thanks, The Solar Dragon 18:24, October 9, 2014 (EDT)
Preview button 2[edit]
Hello, please use the "Show preview" button when editing pages, rather than making multiple edits to a page (i.e. your userpage). It causes less edits to show up in recent changes. Thanks, The Solar Dragon 07:03, December 10, 2014 (EST)
