Book Information
Genre: Home Improvement
First appearance: "Please Homer, Don't Hammer 'Em"

The Time Life Carpenter's Library is a collection of do-it-yourself home improvement books published by Time Life. The collection includes eight volumes.

History[edit]

As Marge looked through the various other dull books at Rock Bottom Remainders, Homer stood around quite bored. He then turned around, noticed the collection sitting on a shelf and decided to buy the books with the idea of becoming a handyman. The idea falls through however, and the only thing Homer "builds" is a foot rest, made with the books themselves.

Annoyed that Homer has no follow through with anything, Marge goes upstairs to put some laundry away. As she walks into their bedroom she accidently causes one of the floorboards to come loose and knock the nightstand over, breaking it. Seeing one of the Time Life books across the bed, Marge decides to fix the nightstand herself. After being successful, she then moves onto other projects, eventually creating her own business.

List of Books[edit]

The Time Life Carpenter's Library includes eight volumes:

  • Volume 1: The Basics
  • Volume 2: Working With Wood
  • Volume 3: Cabinets and Cupboards
  • Volume 4: Tables and Chairs
  • Volume 5: Decking and Roofing
  • Volume 6: Finish Carpentry
  • Volume 7: Floorboards and Nightstands
  • Volume 8: More Projects

Behind the Laughter[edit]

The book collection is a reference to the Time Life company, which produces collections of books based around a certain theme, then mailing them out to people who order.
