Cultural references[edit]

  • When Ralph gets eggs and milk out of the refrigerator, he sings "I am the egg man! I am the milkman! I am the waffle! Koo koo kachoo!", parodying the lyrics from the Beatles song "I Am the Walrus".
  • Ralph spills the flour canister, ends up covered in flour, and says "Wheee! I'm fairy-dusted!", a reference to Peter Pan and Tinker Bell.
  • Mighty Mouse: When Ralph notices the mess he made with the flour and eggs, he says it looks like a job for his friend, "Mighty Mop".
  • When he gets the mop out of the closet, he says to it, "Gee, your hair smells terrific!" which was a shampoo brand that was popular in the 1970s and 1980s in the USA. The shampoo's name became its own advertising slogan, which ended up being recognizable in pop culture longer than the shampoo itself.
  • Cinderella: As he mops, he says, "I feel like I'm in a movie, and soon I'll turn into a beautiful princess!"
  • When the mop gets dirty from the eggs and flour on the floor, Ralph says he'll give it a "special swirly shampoo, like the ones I get from my friends at school", referencing the classic school bully prank.
  • Huggies Pull-Ups: When Ralph cleans the mop in the toilet, it clogs the toilet and water starts pouring out of the bowl. Ralph says that the mop is wetting itself and it needs to put on a pair of I'm a Big Boy Now Diapers. The diaper brand name references the Pull-Ups advertising tagline, "I'm a big kid now!"
  • When Ralph spots the toy boat on the dresser, he gleefully chants, "Toy boat! Toy boat! Toy boat!" which is a well-known tongue-twister.
  • As the house floods, Ralph sails the toy boat in the water and sings "Sailing, sailing, over the pounding brain!", a play on the lyrics from the children's song "Sailing, Sailing".

Trivia[edit]

  • Judging by the green coffee can, the Wiggums drink decaffeinated coffee at home. In the USA, decaf packaged for retail sale often comes in green containers to make it easily distinguishable from "regular" coffee.
