Homer's Guide to the Beach! is a The Simpsons Summer Shindig comic story first printed in The Simpsons Summer Shindig #1.
Synopsis[edit]
- Homer tells the readers how to have fun on the beach with your family.
Homer has to go to Springfield Beach with his family, which he sees as a problem. He burns his feet on the sand while looking for a good spot to settle on and says that they share the beach with nature, so they have to keep the beach clean. He then has an isopod take a Duff Beer can to the trash. Homer says that making a sandcastle is hard, but making a trash castle is easy and saves you a trip to the trash can. However, he makes a castle full of needles and medical waste. Homer says that people say tanning is unsafe, but he covers himself in grease so he cooks slightly in the sun. He also says that if you get tired of swimming, just call a lifeguard as it's their job to save you. He then tells the Squeaky-Voiced Teen to drag him to his towel. Homer goes on to say that the beach is a great place to rekindle romance and let your kids run wild. Bart, Lisa, and Maggie annoy the other beachgoers until the family is chased from the beach back to the car. Homer says that this is fine as there are thousands of miles of other beaches where nobody's ever heard of them.
