• Armenian Seed Co. and the general plot of the comic is a reference to American Seed Co., a company that was active between the 1960s and early 1980s. The company would advertise prizes to magazine readers in exchange for readers selling their seed products for them and then giving the profits to the company. However, American Seed Co. would provide the seeds free of charge instead of at a cost like Armenian Seed Co. in the comic.
• The Z-Men comics are a parody of X-Men from Marvel Comics.
