Bartzan and the Ancient Forbidden Golden City of Gold! is a Bart Simpson story first printed in Bart Simpson #13.
Synopsis[edit]
- Guardian of the jungle Bartzan helps Janey find her father and stop a gang of pirates from gaining access to the Ancient Forbidden Golden City of Gold.
Plot[edit]
As an infant, Bartzan was stranded in a rainforest. He was originally raised by a pack of hyenas, but they kicked him out and he ended up being raised by a family of gorillas instead. When Bartzan grew up, he became the guardian of the rainforest.
One day, Bartzan and Mr. Teeny see Janey running from some pirates and go to help her. He fights off the pirates, takes Janey, and runs from them. Eventually, they reach the top of a waterfall and jump over the edge, falling into the water below. However, the pirates realize that they survive the fall and follow them.
Bartzan takes Janey back to his house where she meets his gorilla family. She then explains to Bartzan that the pirates are after her because she has a map to the Ancient Forbidden Golden City of Gold, and the pirates want the gold fountain there. She tells Bartzan that her father is at the city and she wants to get there to warn her father about the pirates. Bartzan promises to lead Janey to the city.
As they journey to the city, Janey becomes more and more irritated, believing that Bartzan doesn't actually know the way there. However, they eventually arrive at the city, not realizing that the pirates are following them. As they arrive, Janey hears her father calling for help and they find him up a tree, being attacked by lions. Bartzan swoops in to save him, but he, Janey, and Mr. Teeny are attacked by the pirates. Bartzan uses Janey's father's hat full of stinky fish to distract the lions and rescues him. Meanwhile, the pirates try to gain entry to the city. Bartzan warns them that the city is cursed, but they don't listen to him. Molten gold then comes out of the city's entrance, encasing the pirates in it.
Later, Bartzan takes Janey and her father to their ship and Janey gives Bartzan her shoe to remember her by, which Bartzan doesn't want. He and Mr. Teeny then swing away on vines.
