Cultural references[edit]
- Bart's stories are references to the bible stories The Prodigal Son, Binding of Isaac and Noah's Ark.
- Homer says "Call me, Ishmael!" to his brother Ishmael, a reference to the opening line from the 1851 novel Moby-Dick.
- Jack and Rose from the 1997 film Titanic appear during the flood.
- Noah says "You're gonna mess up my ark nevermore!" as he is about to throw a raven. This is a reference to the poem The Raven.
