Homer attempts to climb the mountain in an episod, being sponsored by a powerbar-company. Once Abe Simpson had tried to climb the mountain, and his climbing partner is still left frozen on the mountain (with Abe's bite marks on his arm).

'Mount Springfield is an active volcano located just outside of Springfield. It is mainly seen with a Hollywood-style sign which says Springfield on it. It has been subject to numerous volcanic eruptions over the years.
