The original Hugo Simpson is the third eldest son of Howland Simpson and Gabby Crouse and the brother of 'Old-Tut' Simpson.

Why is he called Hugo Simpson Sr.

Homer's son Hugo Simpson is named after him. However Hugo is considered a non-canon character because he appeared in Treehouse of Horror.
