Cultural references
- The story's title is a pun on the phrase "to flip one's lid":
- "Flip one's lid" is a slang term which means "to get very angry and fly into a rage", a common behavior for Angry Dad.
- "Lid" is a slang term which refers to a hat or other head covering.
- Therefore, when the gust of wind blows the toupee off of Angry Dad's head, he first gets his lid flipped, then flips his lid.
Continuity
- Homer Simpson, the "real-life" inspiration behind Angry Dad, is beaten up and thrown out of a biker bar (Poppa Wheelie's) in the television episode "Take My Wife, Sleaze".
