History

The plot of the show revolved around Mrs. Risotto going to Harvard Law School to become a lawyer so she could get her son, Luigi Risotto, found not guilty of the crime of smuggling diamonds.

A recurring joke of the show seemed to be her slapping the juries to get them to agree with her.

The opening and theme song of Mamma-at-Law! are a parody of The Nanny.
