Mean Genie is a Simpsons Comics One-Shot Wonders story first printed in Li'l Homer #1.

Plot

When Homer was a kid, he was looking in his dad's garage and found a gravy boat. Homer saw some dirt on the gravy boat, so he polished it and out came a genie. The genie tells Homer that if he loses the lamp, he will die, and every time he makes a wish, someone else must pay for his desires. Homer tells the genie that he thought that spirits were good, but the genie replies that that is only the case in fairy tales. The genie explains to Homer that if he, for example, wishes for one million dollars, a satellite might crash into his house and destroy everything and everyone in it so the owners of the satellite woulf pay a million dollars for his suffering. Homer realizes that that happens, his dad will not be happy. The genie asks Homer if he wants a girlfriend, but Homer thinks girls are disgusting. The genie asks Homer if he wants a jet pack to fly to school, but Homer has a better idea: he wishes for no school, but before the genie grants his wish, Homer realizes that he will feel bad afterwards because the genie might kill all his friends and teachers.

Homer's dad comes into the garage and Homer tells him about his problems. Abe forces Homer to solve the problem himself but when Homer tells him that he can wish for a beautiful wife for Abe, he starts to listen to Homer. Homer asks his dad that he can wish to become the world's best yo-yo champion in the world, but Abe tells his son that it's not a good idea because he might do a performance for President Nixon and accidentally kill him so Spiro Agnew becomes president. Abe tells Homer that he has no idea and Homer can never solve the problem because not even Perry Mason could do it, so he simply asks Homer to ensure that he just gets rid of it as quickly as possible before he walks away. Homer begins to cry, because if he loses the lamp, he will die, Homer wishes that he never found the lamp. This causes the genie to kill himself and Homer becomes free from the genie. Homer finds the donut he was searching for, only to discover that these are last year's donuts, and walks away.
