Maggie's Crib is a Bart Simpson story first printed in Bart Simpson #51.

Synopsis[edit]

Bart tries to blame Maggie for his dinnertime misdeeds, but Maggie makes sure that the truth comes out.

Plot[edit]

Bart happens to walk by the dining room, where the table is being set for dinner. He notices a plate full of cookies and decides to sneak one before dinner. He goes to the end of the table and grabs a cookie, in the process reaching past a serving bowl full of stew. As he takes the cookie out of the plate, he bumps the bowl, knocking it to the floor and spilling stew everywhere.

Bart is at first horrified at what happened, but then he starts thinking and an idea occurs to him. He runs to the living room and finds Maggie playing with some toys. He then picks her up, carries her to the dining room and sets her down next to the spilled stew.

A little later, Marge confronts Bart and lectures him about the mess in the dining room. Bart then defends himself (with an innocent-yet-crafty "Who, me?" expression on his face) by explaining that Maggie took a cookie from the plate and knocked the stew off of the table. Marge smiles at Bart, takes him by the hand and leads him to the dining room. When they get there, Marge has a triumphant expression on her face, while Bart is utterly aghast at the sight of Maggie using the spilled stew to draw on the wall, making a picture that shows Bart taking a cookie and spilling the stew.
