Girl Power! is a Bart Simpson story that appears in Bart Simpson #70. It was also featured in the book Simpsons Comics Explosion #1.

Plot

Lisa's class is on a field trip to Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. Lisa sneaks away to clean up Homer's workstation because she doesn't want her classmates to see how dirty it is. Lisa is just finishing up when her class enters the room with Mr. Burns and Smithers in the wake. Mr. Burns likes how clean and organized Homer's workspace is and asks Homer to come into his office tomorrow so can they discuss his future. The next day Burns has a meeting with Homer, saying that he has watched his employee records and it was not what he excpected but he is interested in the future, not in the past. Burns tells Homer that if the level of his work rises to the level of his organizational skills, there will be a big promotion in store for him.

Homer drives to Lisa's school and picks her up because he needs her help. Lisa shows Homer how he should do his job so he can get a big promotion under a few hours before Smithers comes to Homer's office and asks what Lisa is doing there. Homer says that Lisa is interested in working here before and after school every day unpaid. Smithers likes this idea and tells Lisa that she is exactly the kind that gets people promoted. Lisa is now beginning work on the plant after and before school to promote Homer. A couple of weeks later, Lisa has a lot of homework to do and tells Bart that work has taken over her life but the promotional means so much, so she does not know what to do.

Bart has a plan and tells it to Lisa. The next morning Lisa goes to the power plant early, and when Homer gets there she says she has taken a part-time janitor job or something until she is eighteen, when she will take Homer's job. Homer tells Lisa that she can get a better job, but she does not listen to him and says that the power plant is her true calling before she goes to take a half-hour break. A half-hour later, Lisa looks in Homer's workspace and sees that he is sitting in his underwear and his office is a mess again. Lisa tells him that if Mr. Burns sees this he will never get the promotion, and Homer tells Lisa that that's the plan. Mr. Burns then enters his room and sees what a mess Homer has made. Homer tells Burns that it's "free day", the day of the week when he can do whatever he wants in his office. Burns and Smithers don't like what they see and tell him that he will not be promoted to director of station organization. Homer is surprised that they wanted to put him in charge of cleaning offices. Lisa realizes that sabotaging his promotion really was the best thing for Homer, to which Homer replies that it was the best thing for her, because she is eight and daddy cannot let her drop out of school just to help him move up the food chain, and if he ever has a chance to get a promotion, he wants to do it his own way. Homer asks Lisa to go back to school so she can be anything her old man ever dreamed of. Homer and Lisa drive to school, and she asks him to put on some clothes but he says he will do it later, because he does not want to give anyone around here any ideas about him being someone he is not.
