Cultural references

  • A blurb near the top of the ad reads, "Proudly serving humans for centuries!", a reference to the science fiction short story "To Serve Man".
  • Alien: A tagline at the bottom of the ad reads, "In space, nobody can hear you dream!", a wordplay on the tagline from the first Alien movie.
  • The fine print at the bottom contains the statement, "No humans were harmed during the making of this advertisement, but they were probably eaten after production was completed." This is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the American Humane Association certification, commonly seen at the end of movie or television credits, signifying that no animals were harmed during the production of the film or television program.
