• The film Lemony Lick-it's A series of Horny Events is an obvious parody of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
• The song that plays when Mr. Burns and Smithers hydrate the manatee is "Car Wash".
• The episode's title is based on Bonfire of the Vanatees.
• The movie Carl mentions "Farenheit 4 on 1" references the novel Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.
• The character mentioned by the guy in the Frosty costume Mr. Roseli his same his shared by an item called a Roseli Berry in Pokemon X and Y but since the games didn't exist the time this episode aired this is purely coincidental.
