The airing was a last-minute replacement for the premiere of the Fox quiz show Our Little Genius when it was cancelled without being aired after the producers discovered that some of the contestants may have been given more specific information about their categories than was made public, which could have subjected the network to criminal penalties for violating Federal laws against manipulating quiz shows.

An episode of Stella ran in error without sound for 40 minutes on the Sky1 channel, and the error was not present on the HD channel. After 40 minutes, the screen went back for about 10 seconds before starting a repeat of an episode in the early seasons of The Simpsons.
