When Apu, having been caught cheating, was forced to complete a list of tasks by Manjula, number three was to get a cartoon published in The New Yorker, which he did.

When Lisa was six years old she had publish three articles in The New Yorker under the pseudonym, Ms. Lizzie Strongheart. The articles were about dolphins, unicorns, and jazz saxophone riffs.
