Blogs: Index Closing Chinese Wikisimpsons

The Chinese Wikisimpsons is very inactive. It has five content pages, and no |recent changes, and the last edit was October 21, 2011. I don't think it has any views, either. It is in a terrible state at the moment. The German Wikisimpsons isn't actually looking much better, with only 30 or 40 pages when we even have a Die Simpsons article. Still, sticking to Chinese Wikisimpsons, it's a lot smaller that Wik-E-Mart, which was closed, so I think this one should be too. | SimpsonsFR.pngSimpsonsFA.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFD.pngSimpsonsFO.pngSimpsonsFM.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFO.png | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 08:11, 17 February 2012 (EST)

I agree with you, it should be closed. Also, the german simpsonswiki isn't really necessary because of simpsonspedia. FatHomerTalk 09:27, 17 February 2012 (EST)

Views range from 1-3 (i visit most days). Is there a Chinese Simpson community we could check with to see if they wanted to work on it? If not, unless Smiley wants to get back on with it, we might as well say good bye. German is currently active, and just as there's a competitor, doesn't mean we can't give it a go (maybe outreach to a community to give it growth).--Cook879 09:40, 17 February 2012 (EST)
German Wikisimpsons is alright, just a bit small. If it were up to me I think they should all be on the same wiki in different languages. Svenska Wikisimpsons is fine, German Wikisimpsons has poor quality templates but 55 pages, Chinese Wikisimpsons, however, has 34 total pages, most of which are unused templates. We also have about 55 Die Simpsons pages Homer emoticon.gif. | SimpsonsFR.pngSimpsonsFA.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFD.pngSimpsonsFO.pngSimpsonsFM.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFO.png | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 10:03, 17 February 2012 (EST)
I think we should keep the Chinese Wikisimpsons, we just need to promote it to some Chinese speaking wikis (I can help with that). Also, we should definitely keep the German Wikisimpsons, because I speak German (therefore I'll help it out). --Fred (Talk) 12:26, 17 February 2012 (EST)
I agree with Frederick. We just need to find a way to promote the other wikis more. If that proves unsuccessful, then I would say they (the chinese one) could probally be closed. --Nick97 (talk ~ contribs) 18:53, 17 February 2012 (EST)
The Chinese wiki essentially has no info, so we may as well close it, unless someone wants to take over it. As for the German one, I say close it as well, but in doing so, we should form a Simpsons alliance of sorts with Simpsonspedia, somewhat like Bulbapedia has with all of those other Pokémon wikis. Maybe even make a wacky name like them: Encyclopædiæ Simpsonica! Though obviously that name may need tweaking - it's a blatant rip-off. --Wk (talk) 19:16, 17 February 2012 (EST)
Actually, while I'm on the topic, the Spanish Simpsons Wikia looks amazing. Perhaps we can convince them to go independent and join the supposed alliance. --Wk (talk) 20:08, 17 February 2012 (EST)
Contact them and ask them if they want to go independent then. FatHomerTalk 05:51, 18 February 2012 (EST)

Some of the other language Simspons Wikis are good. Portuguese wiki has quite nice templates. We might not be able to get them to move, as they are fine there, and we have no better Wikisimpsons in that language. I'm pretty sure anyone Chinese has given up looking at our wiki. Also, will, it was the original name, and not exactly that anyway. | SimpsonsFR.pngSimpsonsFA.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFD.pngSimpsonsFO.pngSimpsonsFM.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFO.png | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 05:59, 18 February 2012 (EST)

Will, Simpsons88 is the guy to go to for Spanish. We were talking to him before, but he went on holiday and he hasn't really been back here (though he did a few edits the other week). As far as I'm aware Simpsonspedia never replied.--Cook879 06:53, 18 February 2012 (EST)

I agree and Chinese Wikisimpsons should be closed down. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 17:25, 19 February 2012 (EST)

Is this officially decided then? Should I shut it down? --Jake 15:41, 22 February 2012 (EST)

I would assume so, go ahead. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 15:48, 22 February 2012 (EST)

[21:37] <AleWi> Chinese Wikisimpsons
[21:38] <@Cook879> Well, as i said on the forum - we should try and find a Chinese community who want control
[21:38] <@Cook879> Only problem is, China and The Simpsons aren't exactly linked, isn't it banned there?
[21:39] <AleWi> You can't watch The Simpsons when you are in China
[21:39] <@Cook879> So finding an adopter is going to be hard
[21:42] <@Cook879> I really don't think we'll find someone willing to work on Chinese due to the fact it is banned in China
[21:43] <@Cook879> We had like 10 visitors from China in it's lifetime
[21:43] <RandomNO> Is it?
[21:43] <Doh5678> Yeah, close that
[21:43] <AleWi> I can't Chinese
[21:43] <Underfaker> it's banned :(
[21:43] <@Solar_Dragon> Yeah close it
[21:43] <RandomNO> So, close Chinese?
[21:43] <Doh5678> yes
[21:44] <AleWi> Second close this year:(
[21:44] <Phinbart> Ok...let's close Chinese Wikisimpsons
