José Canseco was the outfielder/designated hitter for the Oakland Athletics (1985–1992, 1997), the Texas Rangers (1992–1994), the Boston Red Sox (1995–1996), the Toronto Blue Jays (1998), the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1999–2000), the New York Yankees (2000), and the Chicago White Sox (2001).
He appeared as himself in The Simpsons episode "Homer at the Bat".
José Canseco was voted joint 17th in IGN's "Top 25 Simpsons Guest Appearances" along with fellow Baseball players Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs, Ken Griffey Jr., Steve Sax, Ozzie Smith, Don Mattingly, Mike Scioscia and Terry Cashman.
