Extensions

List of extensions:

Prepared a while ago, they are all needed or wanted. We also have a Blog namespace, we don't want these included in edit count too (I'm going to ask ShoutWiki about downloading the code for the extension as they made it) Solar Dragon 12:05, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

As far as permissions for these go, should I assign CheckUser permissions to bureaucrats or would you prefer to have a 'CheckUser' usergroup for that as well? --Jake 13:04, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
The RSS extension is actually for a future version of MediaWiki that's still in development, so it can't be installed. I'm still working on installing some of the other complex extensions. One thing I wanted to note about the dismissable sitenotice extension was that I've done some of my own work on it and discovered a way that does not require you to increase the sitenotice count after editing it. So you guys won't ever need to touch MediaWiki:Sitenotice id ever again. :) --Jake 13:22, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
OK, cool. There is a RSS extension then as our Twitter feed relied on it on both Wikia and ShoutWiki, not sure of the correct name for it then. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 13:36, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Oh, and bureaucrats should be assigned CheckUser too. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 13:36, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Also need CharInsert. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 13:43, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Just wondering how installing the extensions is coming along. Also, WebChat doesn't work properly. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 15:41, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

I'm working on them now. What's the chat channel name? I have the settings set up like this at the moment:
$wgWebChatServer  = 'irc://irc.shoutwiki.com/wikisimpsons';
$wgWebChatChannel = '#wikisimpsons';
$wgWebChatClient = 'Mibbit';

--Jake 15:45, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Try changing the server to just irc.shoutwiki.com see if that works. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 15:51, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
It works! --Jake 15:55, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

OK, I would also like WikiForum too please. On another note, when will you have a chance to move the forum to the domain? Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:05, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Did you want to have that wiki forum set up or one using a real forum system set up at http://simpsonswiki.net/forum/? Either way, it shouldn't take long. Also, I believe all extensions are installed except for Monaco. :) --Jake 18:08, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
By real forum, you mean our zetaboards forum? if so, could we have both? ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:09, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Not ZetaBoards, as that isn't independent. Something like MyBB. And yes, we can do both. I was just concerned that one would overpower the other. I'll start with the WikiForum, since that one is more simple. --Jake 18:13, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Oh, and the poll extension doesn't seem to work (as seen on the main page) and I think the RSS extension is the wrong one (trying to find out which one ShoutWiki used). ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:17, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

In fact, the main page is full of errors. As well as the poll and RSS, one of the images doesn't load and the extra things that come with social tools (top-right box) doesn't work either. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:19, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
The poll is now working. I'll look into those non-parsed social tags. What image isn't loading? --Jake 18:29, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
The image under the featured picture section. It says: Error creating thumbnail: convert: unable to open image `/srv/www/simpsonswiki.net/public_html/w/images/d/d9/O_Brother,_Where_Bart_Thou\?_South_Park_Reference.JPEG': No such file or directory @ blob.c/OpenBlob/2480.

convert: missing an image filename `/srv/www/simpsonswiki.net/public_html/w/images/thumb/d/d9/O_Brother,_Where_Bart_Thou?_South_Park_Reference.JPEG/250px-O_Brother,_Where_Bart_Thou?_South_Park_Reference.JPEG' @ convert.c/ConvertImageCommand/2838. Also, could you look into the small text in code, pre and css pages please? ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:38, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

I think the question mark in the file name was causing the issue. Unlike ShoutWiki, we use PHP to render thumbnails, which results in much faster page load times. Are you referring to text on pages like this? --Jake 18:42, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Yes, that's what I mean. Also, we need the forum extension (the one used on Forum:Index). ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:46, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
I can't seem to find that extension. Do you happen to have a link to it? Also, MediaWiki seems to override all of my attempts to make that text bigger. It's intentionally small. Are you sure it's displaying smaller to you than on ShoutWiki? --Jake 18:56, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Blog namespace

We have a Blog namespace. Could you make this a namespace so it doesn't add to article count. Also, the Simpsons Wiki namespace, should a bot be able to move them all to the new namespace? Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 14:08, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

I may need the code from ShoutWiki to be able to exclude certain namespaces from the edit count. Also, it turns out that MediaWiki does have a maintenance script to resolve namespace issues, so it's all sorted out now. --Jake 15:31, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Just asked a staff member if he can find the code out. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 15:55, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Ok, I'm rebuilding the images right now, so hopefully we'll start seeing them soon if nothing is wrong. --Jake 16:17, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Rollback

Need rollback rights added, with the added ability of being able to rename images too. Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 15:37, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Just making sure how I set it up was to your liking. --Jake 15:45, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
All seems fine to me. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 15:55, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Uploading images

Hi, I just got an error when uploading an image. The error is: Could not rename file "/tmp/phpfurMNF" to "public/8/8e/M.C._Safety_and_Caution_Crew.png". Any ideas? ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 17:53, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Also noticed with the <code> and <pre> as well as the css pages that the text in them is extra small. Can this be fixed? Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 17:55, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Try again now. I believe I've fixed it. :) --Jake 17:56, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Still doesn't work. Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 18:06, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Slightly different error: Could not rename file "/tmp/phpvXXApE" to "public/8/8e/M.C._Safety_and_Caution_Crew.png". ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:08, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
I've tried uploading an avatar. Doesn't work as well. Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 18:13, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Ok, I've tried updating the permissions recursively for all image folders. Let me know if there are still problems. :) --Jake 18:18, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
