Cultural references[edit]

  • The story's title is a pun on the phrase "to flip one's lid":
    • "Flip one's lid" is a slang term which means "to get very angry and fly into a rage", a common behavior for Angry Dad.
    • "Lid" is a slang term which refers to a hat or other head covering.
    • Therefore, when the gust of wind blows the toupee off of Angry Dad's head, he first gets his lid flipped, then flips his lid.
